Grant & Philanthropy Consulting

I specialize in supporting nonprofits focused on survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, families experiencing homelessness, youth aging out of foster care, and under-represented communities.

Compassionate support.

With over 10 years of experience in grant research, technical and grant writing, nonprofit consulting, grant management, editorial, small business administration

and as a certified mediator and an empathic ally, I deliberately share my skills and work in partnerships that support vulnerable populations with compassion and care.

I choose work that serves women and children, focuses on equity and diversity, and emboldens under-represented communities.

Grant Services

Let me take grants-related duties off your plate, so you can focus on direct-service to your clients, those who need your attention most.

Research

With access to multiple grant databases, personal networks, and experience and relationships with funders, I will find the grant opportunities that are in best alignment with your organization’s programs and goals. Research is intrinsically linked to my comprehensive strategy, and outsourcing this component to me in conjunction with my other offerings will effectively streamline grant seeking efforts and maximize results.

I will extensively search for opportunity matches amongst:

Government (Local/City, County, Federal) Grants, Community Foundations, Family Foundations, Corporate Foundations, Other Private Foundations, Research Grants, Giving Circles, In-Kind Donations

Management & Evaluation Plans

One factor often overlooked in importance in the grants process is having a comprehensive grant management system in place, and the importance of evaluating and reporting the success of your program both internally and to donors. At end of award, I can help you measure success, plan future programming, and demonstrate impact for leveraging future opportunities.

I follow best-practices in award stewardship and reporting, and can assist in donor recognition, publicity/acknowledgments, tracking outcomes, generating reports, and overseeing all of the steps in a grant’s lifespan. Having a comprehensive reporting system that clearly shows the progress you have made towards goals is critical to developing and maintaining relationships with funders.

I can offer insight into software and systems, establish efficient protocols, train staff and volunteers, or manage the oversight entirely for you.

Writing

When we commence on a project together, I seek to know your organization and services inside-and-out. This familiarity with your goals and values allows me to tell your story in a compelling and precise way. I also appeal to a funder’s needs, so they are confident that the funding will advance giving priorities and their own cause.

From start to submission, I write with both heart and data, demonstrating mutual needs and impact that can be realized through the joining of forces—grantee and grantor.

My 10-year grant writing history has a proven track record of funded requests. Last fiscal year demonstrated an average 72% win-rate (with nearly $470,000 procured in grant revenue (note that this example is from a part-time retainer, single organization).

Consulting & Strategy

Let me help you develop a fundraising strategy, logic model, sustainability plan, and a successfully-awarded grant calendar.

Having a robust strategic plan and elements in place transforms how a funder reads your proposal and perceives your organization’s ability to carry out your unique and impactful work. Let me help you hone in on your organizational and program missions, goals, and develop a Case Statement with compelling language that describes your transformational services to potential funders, volunteers, and partners.

Although an outsider of your organization, I passionately dive in—championing your work, standing with, upholding, and advancing your values and mission. My goal is to provide the tools and services you need to work towards your mission, and prepare and empower you to carry forward successful grant efforts in the future (with or without me).

For you, I will…

  • Audit and review nonprofit’s current grant writing/philanthropy protocols, systems, and efforts to provide thorough assessment for improvements

  • Write, edit and submit LOI's, proposals and all required documents to potential funders

  • Manage the entire submission process from proposal submission to notification and reporting

  • Review, update and create budgets for client organization per funder requirements

  • Assist with developing annual grant strategy based on funding priorities

  • Research potential funders through any means, including subscription-based databases

  • Maintain grant application calendar summarizing potential funding opportunities, and tracking deadlines, and report requirements

Let me help you help others.

À la carte my offerings to build the help that fits your needs.

Based on your needs and goals, choose and propose the offerings that suit you best. Contract me for one-time proposals or projects, or ongoing needs, on retainer or on an as-needed basis. Want an assessment or overhaul of your current philanthropy process? Or to just pick my brain on grant best-practices or the current donor giving climate?

Reach out, and together we can piece together the arrangement that suits your needs and your budget.

As a remote contractor, I am able to team up with any nonprofit (501(c)3) across the United States, and solicit grants from any US-based funder. I do not provide grant services to small businesses or individuals at this time.

My fees are reasonably set and designed to offset an in-house grant writer or grant manager, saving significantly on overhead and benefits. I will save you money and earn you money, so you can help others.
